Montana

Montana is home to two major National Parks – Glacier and Yellowstone – and 54 state parks that connect visitors to history, culture, nature and water-based recreational sites. Learn more about our glaciers and geysers and get details on Montana State Parks.

The famous Lewis and Clark Expedition crossed the territory in 1805 and then again in 1806. From 2003 through 2006, our nation observed the bicentennial of Lewis and Clark’s journey.

Montana is filled with adventurous possibilities – hiking, rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, skiing, snowmobiling, etc. Whether summer, winter, springtime or autumn there are endless possibilities for recreation under the Big Sky.

From the Historical Society in Helena to the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman – and at battlefields, landmarks and attractions in between – you can find out more about the Big Sky State through our many museums and cultural attractions.
